When Claude Code is the better choice
- Built by the team that makes the Claude models, and tuned closely to them.
- Deep terminal workflow, plus IDE, desktop and web versions, hooks and MCP support.
- Higher plans give a lot of Claude usage for heavy daily work.
When FreeFlow is the better choice
- Free to start: Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 come out of $50 of weekly credit you don't pay for.
- Not limited to one model maker. Switch to GPT 6.1 Sol, Kimi K3, DeepSeek or Qwen mid-task.
- A desktop app with diffs and approve buttons, for people who'd rather not live in a terminal.
Switching from Claude Code
FreeFlow reads CLAUDE.md as project instructions if there's no AGENTS.md, so your existing project notes carry over.

Questions
- Is FreeFlow a free alternative to Claude Code?
- Yes. FreeFlow costs nothing: three models have no usage cap, and you get $50 of credit every week for frontier models like Opus 5.5 and GPT 6.1 Sol. A small sponsor card in the app pays for the tokens.
- Can I use FreeFlow and Claude Code together?
- Yes. FreeFlow works on your project folder in its own window, so you can keep using Claude Code or any editor while the FreeFlow agent makes changes.
- What's the catch?
- The Harness shows ads, and model requests only run inside the Harness, not through your own scripts. Ads are chosen without your personal data and never appear in your code or answers.
